JOB OVERVIEW:

The purpose of the position is to build, manage, and sustain the company’s on-ground community presence within an assigned SEA-6 market for ACGN (Anime, Comics, Games, Novels) titles. The Community Specialist serves as the local community owner, developing trusted relationships across the ACGN ecosystem, including players, creators, cosplayers, fan communities, conventions, and local partners.

Working under the Community Manager, the role executes regional community and engagement strategies at the market level while providing the regional team with local insights, community sentiment, opportunities, and potential risks. Jobs Descriptions

Best Fit Profile

  • Genuinely part of the local Japanese-style pop culture and entertainment (ACGN) scene — attends conventions, cosplay events, doujin markets and fan meet-ups as a participant, not an observer.
  • Recognized and trusted within their own market’s ACGN community, with a real network of cosplayers, circles, fan groups, event organizers and creators they can reach directly.
  • Connected beyond their home market, with working relationships across ACGN communities in other SEA countries.
  • Hands-on operator who is comfortable running on-ground activations and day-to-day community work, not only posting content.
  • Culturally fluent and locally native — reads the tone, humour and sensitivities of their market instinctively, while working within a regional brand direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run day-to-day community operations for your market across Discord, Facebook, TikTok, X, Instagram and other relevant platforms, including moderation, engagement and localized community content.
  • Represent the brand on the ground at ACGN events in your market — conventions, cosplay competitions, doujin and artist markets, fan gatherings, offline meet-ups and watch parties — covering booth presence, activations, fan interaction and on-site content capture.
  • Build and maintain a working network of local cosplayers, artists, circles, fan communities, event organisers, convention operators and creators; keep a live, usable contact map for the market.
  • Identify and recommend local ACGN events worth attending or sponsoring, with a clear view on audience fit, cost and expected outcome; support execution end to end once approved.
  • Recruit, brief and support community volunteers, moderators, cosplayers and grassroots creators for campaigns and events.
  • Monitor and report local community sentiment, trends, memes, complaints and emerging issues; escalate sensitive matters to the Community Manager promptly and with context.
  • Localise regional community and campaign plans so they land naturally in your market, without diluting the brand’s core identity and positioning.
  • Feed player feedback, bugs, localisation issues and cultural risks to the Community Manager and, through them, to product and marketing teams.
  • Coordinate with counterparts in other SEA-6 markets to share community insight, cross-promote regional activity, and connect communities across borders where it makes sense.
  • Support community events, giveaways, contests, cosplay and UGC initiatives — from planning and briefing through to execution, moderation and post-event reporting.
  • Maintain basic community records and reporting: event recaps, community growth and engagement figures, sentiment notes, creator and partner logs

Qualifications

  • 1–2+ years of experience in community management, community operations, events, social media or player support — or equivalent demonstrable experience organising and running ACGN community activity.
  • Active, verifiable participation in the local Japanese-style pop culture and entertainment / ACGN scene — for example convention attendance, cosplay activity, doujin or fan-circle involvement, fan-group administration, or organising community meet-ups and events. Please include specifics in your application: which events, which communities, what you did.
  • Demonstrable standing and reach within your local ACGN community — people in the scene know you and take your call. No minimum follower count is required; what matters is a real, contactable network and evidence of having gathered or mobilised community members.
  • Connections across ACGN communities in other SEA markets — cosplayers, organisers, circles or creators outside your own country whom you can actually reach.
  • Direct experience participating in and/or helping run ACGN events in any SEA country (conventions, cosplay competitions, doujin markets, fan gatherings) is strongly preferred.
  • Deep familiarity with ACGN culture and anime-style games — gacha, open-world, long-service titles — including how IP, characters, content and creator activity shape player behaviour.
  • Strong understanding of internet culture, memes and social trends in your market, and comfort adapting tone across platforms.
  • Hands-on with Discord and the main local social platforms; comfortable with moderation, community tooling and basic content creation.
  • Willing and able to travel and to work weekends and evenings around event schedules; based in the market being hired for, with the right to work there.
  • Comfortable being visible — on-camera, on stage at booths, on livestreams and in front of the community.
  • Native or near-native in the local market language, plus working English for regional coordination; additional SEA languages or Mandarin is an advantage.
  • Preferred: prior work with a game publisher, studio, convention organiser, cosplay group, doujin circle, or ACGN media/creator outfit in SEA.
